Fifth Annual Triumph for Teens Awards Gala to Benefit California Academies

On Tuesday April 8, Phoenix Houses of California will host The Fifth Annual Phoenix House Triumph for Teens Awards Gala at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton and his wife, trial lawyer, television commentator, author and actress Rikki Kleiman will be honorees of the 2008 Public Service Award, which recognizes their contribution to civic life, exemplary leadership and their efforts to bring change to at-risk and disadvantaged youth.

Phoenix House will also present the 2008 Phoenix Rising Award to the cast and producers of the ABC drama, “Brothers and Sisters” for the power and poignancy of their program, which captures real life struggles and features characters the Phoenix House clients can identify with.

Co-chairs for the evening include Carol and Frank Biondi, Sherry Lansing and Billy Friedkin, Ryan L. Tarpley of Creative Artists Agency, Timothy and Christina Noonan, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa, Patricia Wettig and Ken Olin.

“Triumph for Teens” celebrates the victory of young people over substance abuse and lessons of honesty, responsibility and concern for others on their road to recovery.

For more than 25 years, Phoenix House has been working with Southern California’s most troubled adolescents, providing them with a safe and secure place where they can come to understand themselves, regain their sense of purpose and learn to live life to its fullest. Within a community that cares about each other, these kids learn how to care about and help themselves. At Phoenix Academies in Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego Counties, teens are able to make up the educations they lost to drugs, learn new attitudes and values, and come to grips with the underlying causes of their addictions.
