Los Angeles Business and Community Leaders Join Phoenix House Board of Directors

LOS ANGELES, CA, May 9, 2005—Phoenix House, California’s leading non-profit substance abuse services organization, has recently announced six new board members:

  • Lynn Pike, President of Bank of America California and the bank’s national Business Banking group.
  • Gary LeMel, President of Warner Bros. Worldwide Music and CEO of Warner’s soundtrack label, Sunset Records.
  • Ezri Namvar, Chairman, CEO, founder and principal shareholder of Namco Capital Group, Inc., a holding company for companies engaged in real estate investments and financial services.
  • Glenn Rotner, President and CEO of Dorothy Thorpe LLC, a manufacturer of private label souvenirs and gifts for Casino’s, theme parks, airport gift shops, cruise lines and restaurant chains.
  • Alexis Deutsch-Adler, owner of Alexis Deutsch Fine Arts, an international art and design consulting firm.
  • Gerda McDonough, a community activist, international journalist, and former CEO of entertainment magazine Time Out New York.

“This is an amazing group of people who share our dedication to help the most troubled kids in our community put their lives back on track,” says Winnie Wechsler, Executive Director of Phoenix Houses of California. “As prominent community leaders, their appointments to the board will strengthen our ties to the business community and further support Phoenix House programs.”

Renowned for its effective long-term residential treatment programs, Phoenix House has touched the lives of California adolescents, adults, and their families for 25 years, helping them overcome the problems associated with substance abuse and empowering them with the skills to lead healthy, productive and rewarding lives. More than 2,500 individuals each day receive treatment at 29 Phoenix House programs throughout Southern and Central California. Phoenix House serves Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties with facilities located in Lake View Terrace, Los Angeles, Santa Ana, Santa Fe Springs, Encinitas, Monrovia, and Venice.
