IMPACT - Teen Drug Treatment

IMPACT (Intervention Moves Parents And Children Together) is an after-school outpatient program for adolescents ages 13 to 18 and their families. It's based in New York City on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. We help kids get back on track - socially, emotionally, and academically.  Our professional staff works with teens to help them identify and confront the underlying causes of their substance abuse.  During treatment, teens work to rebuild their self-esteem as well as learn how to control impulses, make positive choices, manage stress, and plan for the future.

Family involvement is a key factor in the success of the IMPACT program; parents are encouraged to attend weekly multi-family groups and weekly parent education seminars. These sessions enable parents to:

  • Show their support for the process
  • Learn how to better communicate with their teen
  • Receive encouragement and ideas from other families

The IMPACT program includes:

  • A comprehensive assessment to determine the extent of the problem
  • Individualized treatment planning
  • Group counseling
  • Individual and family counseling
  • Parent education seminars

Identifying teens at risk is a complicated process. Phoenix House New York works with families and schools to assess the scale of the problem, intervene, and make appropriate treatment recommendations and referrals.
