Phoenix House is one of the nation's leading non profit substance abuse prevention and treatment service organizations.
We serve more than 7,000 men, women (including women with children) and teens each day at more than 120 drug and alcohol treatment and prevention programs in nine states – California, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont .
Our drug and alcohol treatment programs include:
- Phoenix Academies, our residential high schools for teens in treatment for drug and alcohol abuse;
- Long and short-term residential drug treatment centers for adults;
- Intensive outpatient and day programs; after-school programs for teens; programs for mothers with small children; recovery residences; and programs for the mentally ill, for homeless persons, and for drug and alcohol abusers in prisons.
Treatment at Phoenix House:
- Emphasizes compassion, discipline, and accomplishment;
- Is comprehensive and provides a broad range of services;
- Is based on treatment principles that help residents become responsible for their own progress in treatment – and bolsters the progress of their recovering peers.
- Is designed to change attitudes and values as well as behavior.
- Enables participants to sustain and support new lives, with new job skills and new ways to manage emotions and cope with frustration.
- Has been proven effective by research that shows long-term improvement for three out of four graduates, who remain free from criminal involvement, and are employed or in school/training.
Phoenix House Prevention Services
The Prevention programs of Phoenix House target binge drinking on nearly 800 college campuses and reach more than 30,000 youngsters each year in elementary, middle and high schools as well as after-school programs.
Although Phoenix House was founded in New York in 1967, more than half of our programs now operate in our California , Florida , New England , and Texas regions, each of which has its own governing board.
