Adolescent Programs - New Hampshire

Phoenix House adolescent programs give kids a chance to break with the past and take control of their lives. Our residential programs provide substance abuse treatment in a safe and supportive environment.

The Phoenix Academy at Dublin provides comprehensive substance abuse treatment to adolescents, while helping them catch up academically and reclaim lost opportunities. Our three to six-month program combines treatment with a high school educational program directed by state certified teachers in partnership with the local school district.

Teachers and counselors work together to create a supportive environment in which adolescents can develop and grow. Students learn the values of honesty and responsibility, and confront the underlying causes of their substance abuse. Family involvement is a key factor in the success of the program; we offer parent education, counseling, and family therapy.

SASY (Self Assessment Saturdays for Youth)

An educational group that targets young people (12 to 22 years-of-age) who are experimenting with alcohol and/or other drugs, this program consists of two four-hour classes (9am to 1pm) held on two consecutive Saturdays.  Trained facilitators help participants assess their level of alcohol and other drug involvement and examine the potential effects of substance use on their lives.  Topics covered in this program include:

  • Knowing the signs of high risk use and addiction
  • Making an assessment of one’s use of alcohol and/or other drugs
  • Achieving success through examining values and activities, goals and support

If, at any time during the program, a youth is identified as more harmfully involved with alcohol or other drugs, he/she is referred for further assessment and treatment. Anyone can make a referral to the SASY program (parents, schools, courts, probation, etc.). Groups are age appropriate.  The SASY program has been accepted by area courts and schools.

Monadnock Adolescent Treatment Initiative (MATI)

A joint program of Phoenix House and the Youth Initiatives Program at Monadnock Family Services, MATI is an outpatient treatment and positive youth development program for teens and young adults (ages 12-22) with alcohol and drug problems.  MATI provides ongoing outpatient attention and guidance to Monadnock area youth and their families in their own community.  MATI enlists the skills and support of a Youth Coach who works with the teen on learning life skills. This includes identifying and participating in positive social activities and hobbies.  MATI also assists teens and their family in learning effective communication skills around issues important to teens and their families. Anyone can make a referral to the MATI program (parents, schools, courts, probation, etc.)
