SHIRLEY LORD AND JAY T. SNYDER NAMED TO PHOENIX HOUSE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

NEW YORK , NY , February 12th, 2007 – Bestselling author and journalist Shirley Lord and business leader Hon. Jay T. Snyder are the most recent appointees to the Phoenix House Board of Directors, it was announced today.

“Both Jay T. Snyder and Shirley Lord bring a wealth of experience and influence to the Phoenix House Board of Directors,” said Chairman Edward D. Miller. “We look forward to continuing to build on the success of Phoenix House throughout the United States with the addition of these two new powerhouse members.”

Phoenix House, the nation’s leading nonprofit provider of substance abuse treatment and prevention services, currently operates nearly 100 programs in nine states. Each day thousands of adults and adolescents are treated at residential centers for adults, residential Phoenix Academies that combine treatment and schooling for teenagers, outpatient, after school, and day programs.

Shirley Lord

Ms. Lord has been a senior editor at Vogue for more than 25 years, specializing in health and beauty. She is the author of three non-fiction books, five bestselling novels and an autobiography.

Her previous high-profile positions include beauty director for Harper’s Bazaar; women’s editor of The London Evening Standard; and as vice president of corporate development at Colgate-Palmolive where she was responsible for Helena Rubinstein worldwide.

A resident of New York City, Ms. Lord has two sons and four grandchildren. Her late husband was A.M. Rosenthal, the Pulitzer Prize winning columnist and former executive editor of The New York Times. A passionate advocate for the millions of Americans striving valiantly to overcome substance abuse, he never lost sight of the importance of combating drugs and the need to assure access to treatment for all Americans who need it.

Jay T. Snyder

Mr. Snyder is currently a principal at HBJ Investments LLC, specializing in private equity investments and serves on the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy.

In 2003, Mr. Snyder was appointed to the Commission, a bipartisan panel appointed by the president to provide oversight of U.S. government activities intended to understand, inform and influence foreign publics. He was reappointed to a three-year term in 2005.

Mr. Snyder also served as public delegate to the 55th United Nations General Assembly from 2000 to 2001 and was appointed in 2005 to serve as a commissioner on the New York State Commission for Public Authority Reform established by Governor Pataki to study, review, and evaluate the operations and practices of public authorities.

Previously, during an extensive career at Biocraft Laboratories, a publicly held generic drug manufacturer, Mr. Snyder held a number of positions, rising to vice president of research and development and a member of both the management steering committee and board of directors by the end of his tenure.

Active in community service, Mr. Snyder also serves on the board of trustees of the Beatrice Snyder Foundation as well as on committees for several charitable organizations including the National Committee for the Performing Arts at the Kennedy Center from 2003 to 2005. In April 2005, Mr. Snyder joined the board of governors of Milano The New School for Management and Urban Policy.
