Phoenix House Names John Ralosky to Lead New York Region

NEW YORK, NY, February 20, 2007 – Phoenix House, the nation’s largest non-profit substance abuse services agency, today announced that John Ralosky, an experienced health services executive, has joined the organization as vice president and director of the New York region.

Mr. Ralosky is responsible for overseeing more than 30 residential and outpatient programs that currently treat some 2,500 adolescents and adults each day throughout New York State. He will also play a key role in plans to improve and expand the Phoenix House service system in New York. According to the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, there are an estimated 1.8 million adolescent and adult substance abusers in the Empire State.

“New York is where Phoenix House began 40 years ago and has often been the incubator for cutting-edge answers to our country’s drug abuse problems,” said Phoenix House President and CEO Howard Meitiner. “We’re very excited to have John leading the way for us here as we move forward to deliver new, innovative services designed to keep former substance abusers engaged in their recovery.”

“I’m honored to be part of an organization that’s brought hope and healing to thousands of men, women and teenagers," said Mr. Ralosky. “The challenge now is to build on what we’ve achieved to create a system that brings more New Yorkers to recovery, responds with understanding and flexibility to their needs, and empowers them to become caring family members, motivated students and productive members of the workforce.”

During his 20-year career, Mr. Ralosky has played a critical role improving operational performance for several major senior living organizations, including Atria Senior Living Group. Most recently, Mr. Ralosky developed a consulting service to guide those making long-term care placement decisions for others. A New Jersey native, Mr. Ralosky graduated from Fordham University with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science in 1984.

Since 1967, Phoenix House has been helping men, women and teenagers find the insight and courage to put the past behind them and lead fulfilling lives. Phoenix House currently operates nearly 100 programs in nine states. Each day, thousands of adults and adolescents are treated at residential centers for adults, outpatient, after school, and day programs as well as residential Phoenix Academies that combine treatment and schooling for teenagers. Phoenix Academies have been selected as Model Programs by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
