Monty Mueller
Director, Phoenix House of Texas
Mr. Mueller joined Phoenix House of Texas in 2006 as vice president and regional director. He is responsible for the management of a wide range of substance abuse prevention and treatment services in Texas including residential and outpatient treatment, aftercare and family support services. Phoenix House is the state’s primary provider of residential treatment for adolescents and works in tandem with both government and community agencies to provide prevention and education programs for Texas teenagers.
Prior to joining Phoenix House, Mr. Mueller spent 18 years as a highly successful management consultant and served as a partner with Accenture. Most recently, he turned around a services company in North Texas. Mr. Mueller holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and is a long-time Texas resident. Send an email

Michael J. Hathcoat
Director of Clinical Services
Mr. Hathcoat joined Phoenix House in 1997 and assumed his current position of Vice President and Director of Clinical Services in 2006. From 1993 to 1997, he served as executive director of Interventions, a mental health substance abuse treatment company. Prior to joining Interventions, he served as director of clinical and social services at the Willow Creek Hospital and was president and owner of Hathcoat & Associates, a health care consulting company.
r. Hathcoat is a member of the adjunct faculty at the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington. He holds an M.S.S.W. degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a B.S. from Texas Wesleyan University. He is both a Licensed Master Social Worker - Advanced Clinical Practitioner and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in the State of Texas. Send an email

Caren McGratty
Director of Development, Texas
Ms. McGratty joined Phoenix House as Director of Development for Texas in 2005. She previously served as Vice President of Marketing and Operations for M/PF Research, Inc., a market research consulting practice based in Dallas, Texas. This 40 year old company serves the multi-family housing industry in 30 metropolitan markets across the country.
As a New York resident for 18 years, Ms. McGratty served as a volunteer, fundraiser, and board member for various non-profit organizations with a focus on healthcare and fine arts. These included the New York Hospital Pediatric Department, Cornell Medical Center Departmental Associates, New York City Ballet, and Alvin Ailey Ballet Company. Send an email
