I started drinking at age 15 and using drugs at 16. I started just for fun, but built up a high tolerance very quickly. I started doing more drugs more often. I became dependent on drugs and started to see the consequences of my using. I was in and out of jail, prison, treatment and other institutions, anything to escape.
By 2002, I was empty, lost, and alone. I was arrested on October 22nd that year, and sent to Phoenix House. I learned many things there. How to cope, how to let go, and how to move on with my life!
Today, I have a very full, drug-free life. I have been employed at the same corporation for approximately three years, and was promoted into management in the first year. I am enrolled at Central Florida Community College in Ocala. I am very involved in Narcotics Anonymous. I have built strong bonds with my family and have some beautiful friends. My life is different today. Thank you Phoenix House for opening that door to recovery.
